Completed through a Service-affiliated postgraduate dental school.

RESEARCH REQUIREMENTS

Students work with a research committee of at least 3 faculty members (one of whom is the primary advisor), learn the research process, formulate a research question, write a research proposal, conduct the study using a statistically determined sample size, analyze data using appropriate statistical tests, document research experiences and results in a thesis or publishable paper format, and present the research in a public forum as determined by the research committee and supported by available funding at the program location.

Using MHS, DoD, and USU knowledge gap priorities to guide thematic areas for investigation, Students choose their own research topic. It is expected that students will become involved in a combination of clinical, laboratory, and dental public health (survey) research projects distributed throughout our programs.
